Time for a Change

I just returned from meeting with a head hunter for Scholastic Publishing. A friend of mine gave him my name this past Tuesday and he happened to be coming in to town today, so went down to the Hilton lobby by the Salt Palace and proceeded to sell the wonderfulness that is me! :)

The job the company is seeking to fill is "Consultant for Read 180". What that means is the consultant, hopefully me, would be in charge of training and implementing the reading program in the school districts throughout the entire state of UT, southern ID and parts of OR. I would be traveling a lot, would get a company car, and would be flown various places for corporate meetings (hello New York).

It'd be a great opportunity to network and to meet new people, plus the potential for growth is huge. Not to mention the money! Not that I'm greedy or anything, but it'd be really nice to only work one job and to have fabulous dinner parties as I'd get a new place! :)

If the Executive of Consulting likes what the hunter has to say I may be flying to CA for an interview within the next couple of weeks. If nothing happens, at least it was an opportunity to practice interviewing outside of teaching and now he has my resume, and can keep me in mind for future positions. He said he was impressed and meeting in person really helped; the only disadvantage is I'm in the middle of graduate school so the travel may interfere with completing my classes. Traveling around my classes may or may not be negotiable. If I get the interview with Scholastic themselves, that's something to be discussed.

Anyway, that's the latest with me. That and I actually don't hurt that bad this week from working out with the trainer. I think I'm getting in shape after all :)
