More than 100,000 rare gorillas found in Congo

<-- SO CUTE!
Yes, I am a dork but I can't tell you how happy this makes me! I love, love, love gorillas and have really hated the fact they were slowing disappearing due to the idiocy of poachers (who determined the hand of a gorilla was worth a lot of $, even if it it meant killing an entire group just to get the hand of the Silverback).

The following bullets are highlites from the CNN article:
  • Researchers feared only around 50,000 Western lowland gorillas left worldwide
  • Now 125,000 primates have been discovered in northern Congo
  • Population declining rapidly because of hunting
  • This is the highest-known density of gorillas that's ever been found
So yeah for the gorillas in the Congo, although now that researchers have found them and announced it, I'm sure the bastard poachers will go find them! However, this group gives me hope there are more hiding out there in the jungle and I hope they stay hidden. Yes, I'm a dork, but a dork who loves her selected animals.

Just had to comment because I love animals! Yay for resiliant gorillas! Hopefully the poaches won't be quite as successful now as they have been in the past.
