Trip to my happy place, but not for me

*300 notebooks? Check
*200 mechanical pencils? Check
*Markers to contribute to marker bucket? Bought 10 packs
*100 black and/or blue pens? Check
*75 pencil erasers in various neon colors? Check
*Fine point Sharpie pens in pack of 15? Check
*Eight pencil sharpeners to have as back up in case classroom sharpener still doesn't work? Check
*Plug-in air fresheners to dilute the smell of pubescent teenagers? Bought two
*Large desk school calender to record anything I consider calender worthy? Check
*Ten new books to add to the reading bookshelf to peak my students interest in reading? Check

Do I feel I need to spend $175 for my students before I've even started teaching? Obviously yes; if I don't now, it'll cost twice that much in October! Thank goodness I don't have to provide clothing also; oh wait, I do provide lotion and hand sanitizer and body splash, oh yeah and gum and band-aids. I'm pretty much their pseudo mom. My students better love me, or at least appreciate the supplies I provide for their little gangsta selves!

My bro and sis in law are both teachers and they were scouring the ads this sunday. I had no idea how much teachers spend on their kids. I agree with the gum thing. That is too nice.

Sounds kind of fun, actually, shopping for all that stuff. You are a nice teacher to have all that stuff on hand.
