Looking around at my students day to day has made me realize I would never repeat junior high. It was such a harsh time, especially for me as I was 5'10'' by the 7th grade. Nothing like feeling super out of place when your best friend weighs about 20 lbs and is only 5'7 and then you have to stand next to her. No wonder Gigi got the boys and I was just the bodyguard.
However, how many years later is it and I'm still the taller one. :) At least some of the boys have caught up.
High school wasn't too bad. Swim team helped me feel like I belonged somewhere since I was always friends with everyone, but didn't belong to any of those friends' groups. Thank goodness I had Michelle and Emily. Even 15 years after graduation, I still keep in contact with them, although one more than the other. Maybe we'll get better once I can find a kid.

You're lucky your bff was 5'7". That's pretty tall for a 7th grade girl. Can you imagine if she'd only been 5'2" or 3"?? I've gone through phases where it seems like all of my friends are 5'10" + and I seem like a midget at 5'6". And phases when I've been the giant to a bff who was only 5'2" or 3". And my husband's family all think I'm a super short because the shortest woman in the family (besides me) is 5'9". I keep having to tell them I'm average height.
I just have to say I love reading your blog.
Find a Kid??? You are funny! I KNOW!! Bad friend. Don't feel bad though - it's not just you, it's everyone! We'll talk soon - EM
