Ode to Spring

Spring, oh how I love thee, let me count the ways.....

The beautiful buds that turn into gorgeous blossoms on all of the trees. I love taking walks and smelling all of the new blossoms and flowers.  And, quite honestly, I just enjoy grabbing people's tree limbs and inhaling the scent.  Yes, I'm a bit crazy that way.
The flowers that are everywhere!  I can't wait for the tulips and daffodils to bloom in my parent's front yard so I can then cut them and put them in vases in my own home!  I love the smell of lilacs in the neighborhoods, and hydrangeas, which was going to be my bouquet flower.  Flowers are the best.
The great weather that allows me to get the bike back out.  My great friend Tim showed me how to fix my flat tire I've had forever, and now I'm antsy to get back out on the trails.  This spring I am bound and determined to tackle a mountain ride.  It may be a simple, made for a 2nd grader ride, but I'll be in the mountain instead of on the bike trail!
The freaking sun!!!!  I suffer from S.A.D. and boy do I miss this great ball of fire (light boxes can only do so much, and the way I've been feeling lately with the 'stuff' going on they really aren't cutting it).  The longer days, the birds chirping (which I only enjoy in the Spring; come Summer, when I'm trying to sleep, I tend to want to hurt them) and just the over all attitude of everyone knowing that the gross weather is nearing an end.  Yes, there will be numerous snow storms yet to come, but the point is, it's getting better!
Spring requires me to be happy, even when I'm not (because honestly, I am the queen of pessimism so I'm not the ever walking ball of joy that others are, yes I mean you Mother) because how can one be sad when the sun is out, the blossoms are being sniffed, exercise is happening outside and everyone is just happy.  My motto is 'Fake It and Fake It Well'.  Thanks to Spring, and the previously mentioned reasons, I tend to fake things better when there's sun outside.

Thank you Spring for coming every year at the exact right time.  Just when I think I can't take it anymore, there you are.
